And being in the tech era, you also need the Pomodoro app as the compliment. If you are a Mac user, here are several Pomodoro timer alternatives that you can try. Meanwhile, Windows users can jump to this article.
Customizable desktop timer that can help you organize your day by splitting it into work/break intervals based on the Pomodoro techniqueWhat's new in YAPA 2.0.141:
The Pomodoro technique has become so popular that you can find numerous Windows apps to help you take advantage of it if in order to organize your time and ensure you are working as efficiently as possible.
YAPA, short for Yet Another Pomodoro App, is one of the options at your disposal. It can be customized to a great extent, and it comes with two themes that drastically alter its appearance and behavior.
Stylish Pomodoro timer that looks good on your desktop
When using the default theme, the application displays a timer on your desktop, with buttons to pause or stop the clock, as well as a period counter. It makes it easy to keep track of work and break intervals, and it can even be viewed through other application windows.
The Motivational theme is a bit different, as it displays a much smaller timer, together with a motivational quote or message. It isn’t as customizable, but you can choose between a white and dark color theme.
Lots of things can be configured to make the app just right
Depending on the theme you are using, you may be able to alter the clock’s opacity and size, choose between white and black text, enable or disable the flashing animation and specify whether the Pomodoro status should be indicated.
Naturally, you can also change the default length of the work and break intervals, and the application can trigger sound notifications and play a user-provided audio file when it is time to take a break or get back to work.
Control the app from the taskbar or minimize it to the system tray
An interesting feature is the taskbar jumplist that can be used to manage the timer and access the app’s settings. When not in use, it is also possible to send the application to the system tray.
All in all, YAPA is an interesting option for users who are fans of the Pomodoro technique and wish to manage their time when using a Windows PC. It offers a number of interesting features and isn’t terribly difficult to configure.

Pomodori is a tool based on the pomodoro technique (PT) by Francesco Cirillo available for Mac Os X (Leopard, Snow Leopard 10.6 Core 2 Duo and Lion 10.7 please look at the Requirements section to know which version to download). Pomodori measures the pomodoro time and stores pomodoro descriptions with the help of only a single click. Pomodori shows metrics to help you plan future activities and detailed charts. For more information about the technique please visit pomodoro community.
WHAT IS THE POMODORO TECHNIQUE?
The Pomodoro Technique (PT) is a time and focus management technique which improves productivity and quality of work. Starting with the PT is incredibily simple, you just need a timer (shameless promotion, what about Pomodori?) that counts 25 minutes:
Then read the book Pomodoro Technique Illustrated by Staffan Noteberg and the original paper by Francesco and you should be all set.
